Sweet Greens Farm
Sweet Greens Farm is a family farm in Central Virginia growing sustainable cut flowers on over 5 acres. We provide high quality cut flowers to wholesale clients including florists, designers & grocery stores in Charlottesville, Richmond and northern Virginia. We are members of the farmer-owned River City Flower Exchange cooperative. We also sell at a farmers market in Charlottesville offer bulk flowers and floral design for weddings, events and weekly accounts. We grow in high tunnels and in the field using a combination of tractor and human power with modern scale appropriate tools. Our mission is to spread joy and beauty through local cut flowers, bring healthy food to our community and build living soil for future generations.
The Farmers
Jim Marzluff and Claudia Seixas, a husband-and-wife team, have been growing flowers and vegetables together since they met at Swarthmore College in 2008. After apprenticing on organic farms in California and Oregon and receiving certificates in ecological horticulture from the UC Santa Cruz Farm & Garden, they managed the first USDSA certified organic farm in the U.S. Virgin Islands. They began their own operation at an incubator farm in Jim’s hometown, Charleston, South Carolina. In April 2016 they moved to their current farm in Scottsville, Virginia. In 2021 they welcomed their son, little farmer Luca to the family.
